MENDOCINO COUNTY’S COVID-19 CASES GROW 35% IN THE LAST WEEK; TODAY’S TOTAL IS 249

Whenever Mendocino County Public Health publishes a new COVID-19 infographic, MendoFever will compare and contrast the data with the previous infographic in hopes to shed light on trends associated with the COVID-19 pandemic in Mendocino County. 

🗣Most significant information gained from this evening’s infographic update provided by Mendocino County Public Health:
📍 There has been a 35% jump in Mendocino County’s total COVID-19 cases in the last calendar week. (Last Friday it was at 185).
📍 Four of the county’s five deaths have occurred in the last calendar week.
📍59% of the County’s positive COVID-19 cases are from the Hispanic/Latino Community.
📍The county’s positivity rate increased between yesterday and today moving to 1.6%

🧠Analysis of that data represented in today’s infographic with yesterday. No longer will MendoFever simply describe the numbers that change within each category, but the overall percentage:

👨🏻👩🏽👨🏿Demographics: 59% of total cases are associated with the Hispanic/Latino community; 16% are associated with the White/Non-Hispanic community, 6% are associated with the Native American/Alaskan native community, 1% are associated with the African American community, 2% are “other”, and 16% are “unreported.
🧒👵Age Ranges: 4% of cases are associated with the “0-5” age range, 6% of cases are from the “6-12” age range, 9% of cases are associated with the “13-18” age range, 33% of cases are associated with the “19-34” age range, 23% of cases are associated with the “35-49” age range, 14% of cases are from the “50-64” age range, and 11% are from the 65+ age range.
👨👩 Gender of Infected: 49% of the infected are men 51% are women.
🏡Source of Infection: 39% of the county’s cases are associated with “close contact”, 7% of cases are associated with “work/out of county travel”, 11% of cases are associated with “community spread”, and 43% are “under investigation”.
🌎Region of Cases: 70% of cases originate in the Ukiah Valley, 4% are from the South County, 13% are from the North County, 1% of cases originate on the South Coast, and 11% originate on the North Coast.
👨‍⚕️Status of Patients: Thirteen more patients have entered isolation for a total of 118. There remains 4 patients in the hospital. There remains only one patient in the intensive care unit. A fifth death was announced today Mendocino County and there is a total of 249 cases. There are a total of 123 active COVID-19 cases.
📈Testing: Comparing and contrasting testing numbers suggests the majority of today’s 15 new cases were discovered within commercial labs. The amount of tests pending is still 1,958. The positivity rate of those tests is 1.6%. .3% of Mendocino County’s population has tested positive for COVID-19
