Sherwood Oaks Outbreak Update: Rumors of Closure are False and Two More Residents Diagnosed with Virus

Categories:

The following is a press release written by the Medical Director of Sherwood Oaks Doctor John Cottle:

Yesterday two more residents of Sherwood Oaks were diagnosed with COVID-19, and are being cared for in the facility’s isolation unit. This brings the total to 15 residents and 8 staff diagnosed with COVID-19.

Rumors of Sherwood Oaks being closed by the State Department of Health are untrue. Daily staffing reports are routinely sent to to them, and while Sherwood Oaks is very much in need of more nurses and nurse aids, and has widely advertised that need, no state action has yet been taken. If it were, some but not all residents would be temporarily relocated to improve staffing ratios until more can be hired.

Frodo: I wish none of this had happened.

Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All that we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

I like to think of myself as a reporter for the Average Joe. Journalism has become a craft defined largely by city dwellers on America's coasts. It’s time to take it back. I have been an Emerald Triangle resident since 2006 and this is year ten in Mendocino County. Please, email me at matthewplafever@gmail.com if you know a story that needs to be told.
