Mendocino County Warns Residents Not to Plant Seeds Illegally Delivered from China

The following is a statement released on the County of Mendocino Facebook page:

Attention Residents:
The Mendocino County Agricultural Commissioner’s office received several calls this week that unordered seed packets from China were delivered to their homes. The California Department of Food and Agriculture and USDA are investigating these shipments. If you received seeds you did not order please contact the County Agricultural Commissioner’s office at 707-234-6830. Do not plant the seeds they may be noxious weeds and their shipment is illegal for entry into the United States. You can bring the seeds in a clear sealed bag to 890 N. Bush St. during business hours (8:00am – 5:00pm) – please call ahead.
