Driver Jumps Off Bridge After Crashing Vehicle Later Succumbing to Injuries

The following press release was issued by California Highway Patrol, Ukiah:

On 08-08-2020, at approximately 1758 hours, the Ukiah Communication Center received several 911 calls of a traffic collision on SR-20 just west of the Bushay campground entrance. While units were in route, one of the reporting parties informed the Ukiah Communication Center the driver of the involved vehicle had jumped off the bridge. CHP officers and Mendocino County Sheriff Deputies responded to the scene. On arrival, the involved pickup was on its side blocking the west bound lane of SR-20 on the East Fork Russian River Bridge. Off duty medical personnel were on scene rendering aid to the party that had jumped from the bridge. The party succumbed to his injuries. This incident is still under investigation.
