Fire Weather Threat This Weekend with Incoming Thunder Storms & Gusty Winds

Categories:

The following is a statement issued by the National Weather Service Eureka California:

Conditions may become more conducive to wildfires over the weekend and early next week, due to the potential for lightning strikes Saturday followed by dry and windy conditions Sunday and Monday

After being asked where exactly the threat of fires would be amplified, the curator of the National Wather Service Eureka California’s Facebook page answered:

Thunderstorms will be most likely over the interior mountains, particularly Trinity, eastern Del Norte, and northeast Mendocino county. Heat and low humidity will be prevalent everywhere outside of the immediate coastline, and gusty winds will be most likely across higher terrain. That is a lot to digest, but in general, almost everywhere east of the immediate coast will see an increasing threat of fire weather conditions.

I like to think of myself as a reporter for the Average Joe. Journalism has become a craft defined largely by city dwellers on America's coasts. It’s time to take it back. I have been an Emerald Triangle resident since 2006 and this is year ten in Mendocino County. Please, email me at matthewplafever@gmail.com if you know a story that needs to be told.
