Red Flag Warning Issued for Mendocino County by National Weather Service

The following is a statement issued by the National Weather Service:

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 PM SUNDAY TO 11 PM PDT
MONDAY…
The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect from 11 PM Sunday to 11 PM PDT
Monday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

-AFFECTED AREA…Fire weather zones 202, 264, 276, and 277 in
Mendocino and Lake counties.

-THUNDERSTORMS…Scattered thunderstorms will pose a threat for
fire starts due to lightning.

-OUTFLOW WINDS…Gusty thunderstorm winds will cause ongoing
fires to behave erratically.

-IMPACTS…Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Instructions: A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Target Area: Coastal Mendocino, Interior Mendocino, Lake County Portion of Lake-Napa-Sonoma Unit, W Mendocino NF, E Mendocino Unit
