Oak Fire Update: 25% Contained & Cooler Weather Enhances Firefighting Efforts

According to an Oak Fire Incident Update, the fire is 25% contained, two structures have been destroyed, 800 structures are still considered threatened, and the cause is still under investigation.

The incident update makes note the Damage Inspection Teams are completing surveys of the area and “the number of structures damaged or destroyed may change.”

As of 9:00 pm, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office has annouced Highway 101 has reopend to north and south bound traffic but has emphasized all evacuation zones still apply and made clear that “Brooktrails is NOT open!”

The incident report describes fire resources “working in steep and rugged terrain but continue to make steady progress on containment lines.”
