Modesto Woman Dies After Rolling Down Cliff on Highway 1, Says CHP

The following is a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol

On October 17, 2020, at approximately 1316 hours, Ukiah CHP responded to a solo vehicle over a cliff located on SR-1, north of MPM 32.65. During the initial investigation it was determined that a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a female, drove off a cliff while transitioning from park to drive, while initially parked on the southbound shoulder of SR-1. The Chevrolet rolled down a steeply graded cliff before coming to rest on a remote beach below. The driver sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision. The identify of the driver has not been released and is pending notification to next of kin. The cause of this collision is still under investigation. It is unknown at this time whether alcohol and/or drugs were a contributing factor in this collision.
