[UPDATE: Road Open] State Route 175 Closed to Traffic After Over-Length Big Rig Goes Down Embankment

Categories:

State Route 175 between Hopland and Lake County is currently closed due to a semi-truck blocking the roadway. A Tweet from Caltrans District 1 indicates there is no estimated time of reopening.

A post on the California Highway Patrol Clearlake’s Facebook page reads, “SR-175 is blocked near the Lake/Mendocino county line due to an overlength big rig. Use an alternate route or expect a long delay.”

According to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page, the vehicle became stuck at at approximately 4:32 p.m. The rear axle of the semi-truck went down the embankment and became stuck in a guard rail. Semi-trucks are on scene and a heavy-duty is available if needed.

CHP Clear Lake’s Public Information Officer Joel Skeen added that, “nobody was injured in the crash.”

Officer Skeen wants to remind the public that “SR-175 from US-101 to Lakeport has a 39’ maximum vehicle length due to the narrow windy road. Please use a commercial map and plan your route accordingly if you are a commercial driver. “

UPDATE 8:11 p.m.
