According to the United States Geological Survey, at 7:02 a.m. a 4.4 magnitude earthquake shook southeast Mendocino County. The epicenter was located 13 kilometers west of Lakeport, California, almost directly north of Old Hopland.

MendoFever is based out of New Hopland on the west side of the Sanel Valley and experienced approximately 10 seconds of earthquake activity with noticeable rolling.

UPDATE: 7:30 a.m.

The Ukiah Walmart had to temporarily close in the wake of the earthquake. According to a store associate we spoke with, “we closed for a short period of time because items dropped off of shelves and onto the floor. We will be open soon. The shelving was swaying. It was crazy.”

  1. I’m in second floor apartment near Grace Hudson Museum and the shake was less than one full second. Nothing fell off my shelves. 10 seconds of that would have required lots of clean up.
