(UPDATE: Incorrect Residence Initially Identified)Historic Laytonville Home Catches Fire

Last night at approximately 9:45 p.m., a residence caught on fire in the Kenny Creek Road area near Laytonville. Cal Fire and local firefighters responded to the former home of Arthur H. ‘Bud’ Harwood, a well-known lumber industry figure, according to a firefighter speaking over the scanner.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found an approximately 2500 sq. ft. structure on fire with flames coming through the roof. All the occupants were out of the structure and there were no reported injuries.

UPDATE 12:40 PM

The home that caught on fire in Laytonville was not in fact the historic Harwood home but a nearby neighbors. The initial report was based on scattered scanner reporting.
