Traffic Collision with a Horse on Highway 20 Results in Major Injuries and Air Ambulance

A major traffic collision occurred at approximately 7:27 p.m. on Highway 20 near the Lake County line involving a collision between a vehicle and a horse. A helicopter is landing to airlift an occupant suffered major injuries.

Highway 20 westbound is shut down starting at Old Lake Road.

According to a log from the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page that has been deleted, an occupant of the vehicle was caught inside the vehicle due to the roof being crushed in the collision. 

Scanner traffic indicates that a single individual has suffered major injuries from the collision and extraction is required. Incident Command at the scene said the road was partially blocked near mile marker 43.5
