Shooting Near Ukiah’s Sunrise Inn; Law Enforcement Patrolling for Suspect

Scanner traffic indicates at approximately 9:21 p.m. a shooting occurred at the Sunrise Inn on 650 South State Street. The shots are reported to have shot out a window and the shooter was on foot.

The dispatcher reported the suspect shooter is named Phillip Lopez, a hispanic male, 5′ 6” with tattoos on his face wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans. The shooter was said to have continued northbound on foot along State Street.

Units were dispatched to search the surrounding area for the suspect.

UPDATE 10:41 p.m.

Dispatch issued a “be on the lookout” for the suspect Phillip Ronnie Lopez Junior, who dispatch described as “armed and dangerous.” The nature of the shooting became clearer when the dispatcher said Lopez is a suspected of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.

Lopez was described as a hispanic male, 5′ 9’’, 180 lbs. with tattoos on his face wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans. Lopez is associated with a Black Cadillac CTS sedan.
