[UPDATE: Wreck Cleaned Up] Traffic Backed Up After Vehicle Rolls Attempting to Avoid Log Lying on Highway 101 South of Willits

At approximately 7:45 p.m., the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicates a log lying on Highway 101 south of Willits caused a traffic collision. The CHP Incident Information page says the vehicle attempted to swerve out of the way of the log which resulted in the vehicle rolling multiple times and coming to rest on its roof in the northbound lane.

A Willits resident driving near the scene told us traffic is stopped in both directions. The CalTrans Quickmap indicates traffic is heavily backed up in the area.

The CHP Incident page also states a second traffic collision occurred as a result of the incident.

UPDATE 9:06 p.m.

As per a dispatcher at Ukiah California Highway Patrol, the accident has been cleaned up and traffic is starting to move.
