The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office has announced that searchers yesterday “located human remains that were unable to be positively identified as being Paul Duran because of the condition of the body.” A post on their Facebook page indicates that “The Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Division is working towards identifying the human remains through other investigative avenues (dental records, DNA, etc.).”
According to MCSO’s Public Information Officer Captain Greg Van Patten, “human remains were found but animal activity on the body prevented visual identification.”
58-year-old Paul Duran had likely been missing for over a week on a remote piece of property on Mina Road in the Covelo area.
Search and Rescue agencies from around Northern California combed the property this week after Duran’s ATV was located with a flat tire.
