Individual Shot in Stomach Medevaced from Iron Peak Property; Law Enforcement Investigating

Categories:

About 4:49 p.m., a man called 911 reporting that a friend had been shot in the abdomen in the 53700 block of Iron Peak Road.

Mendocino County Sheriff Office’s Public Information Officer Captain Greg Van Patten said patrol deputies are responding to the Laytonville area regarding a “reported shooting.” When asked if there was currently a suspect at large, Van Patten said, the reporting person is claiming to be the shooter, so no suspect at large.

When asked whether the shooting was an accident, a crime, or self-defense, Van Patten said deputies are “on scene investigating now.”

Multiple agencies have been dispatched to deal with the incident–the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department, Fish and Wildlife, the California Highway Patrol, an air ambulance, and Laytonville Fire.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.
