One person is dead, and another is in custody after a stabbing in an apartment complex on Ukiah’s Laws Avenue, says Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office’s Public Information Officer Captain Greg Van Patten. He said the crime occurred on Laws Avenue this morning at around 5:00 a.m.
Dawn Hunt, a resident nearby, said police vehicles have been outside the Greystone Apartments since 5:30 a.m. Hunt provided pictures of the scene, and yellow crime scene tape can be seen on the balcony outside a second-story apartment.
Hunt said she woke up at 3:00 a.m. last night to “a little yelling” from the apartment’s direction but did not get up to look.
Hunt said she saw four detective vehicles, one vehicle from MCSO, and the coroner van arrive at the scene throughout the morning.
Captain Van Patten said, “California Department of Justice and the Mendocino County DA’s Office is assisting with the crime scene processing now.”
