[UPDATE: LCSO Unable to Confirm] Lake County BOLO: Suspect Sought After Discharging Firearm into a Vehicle

Scanner traffic indicates at approximately 9:36 p.m., an individual referred to as Nathan Lyons shot a firearm into a white and blue Chevrolet Suburban near the intersection of Lake Shore Boulevard and the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff. The shooter then fled the scene towards Nice driving a small black sedan.

The report resulted into what the dispatcher referred to as an “Officer Safety Warning” issued by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The dispatcher said it as unknown whether the shooting resulted in any injuries.

UPDATE 1/2/2021 10:07 a.m.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office’s Public Information Officer Lieutenant Corey Paulich provided the following statement regarding the circumstances: “Our deputies checked the area, but were not able to locate anyone.  The reporting party was not the victim and was not cooperative.  We were unable to confirm that this incident actually occurred.  We put out the officer safety warning out of an abundance of caution.”
