[UPDATE: Roadway Open] Traffic Collision Between Truck and Big Rig Results in Fatality and Traffic Control on Highway 20 Near Lake Mendocino

At approximately 6:55 a.m, on Highway 20 near the intersection with Marina Drive a silver Toyota Tacoma struck a big rig head on. There is reportedly one vehicle over the embankment and a driver deceased as a result of the collision.

California Highway Patrol and other responding agencies are conducting traffic control in the west and east bound lanes as attempts to extricate the vehicle begin.

A press release issued by the California Highway Patrol traffic control is in effect due to the collision and urges travelers to travel through the area with caution and to consider using alternative routes.

A post from the California Highway Patrol Ukiah Facebook page said that traffic is still diminished to one-way traffic. The posts asks drivers to “Please slow down when traveling through the area and watch for emergency personnel. Please drive safely.”

UPDATE 9:10 a.m.

According to a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol, Highway 20 has officially reopened to two-way traffic.
