Patient Falls from Cliff into Big River Rescued and Now Awaits Airlift Due to Injury

Scanner traffic indicates at approximately 8:25 p.m. an individual was reported to have fallen from a cliff into the water near the town of Mendocino’s Chevron gas station. He was successfully pulled from the water with an injury.

Responding agencies include the Mendocino Volunteer Fire Department, Fort Bragg Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, and a medical helicopter has been dispatched to land on the beach.

UPDATE 8:58 p.m.

The dispatcher told the responding medical helicopter the patient is male and the injuries are due to his fall from the cliff. During the exchange, the landing zone on the beach was confirmed.
