Ukiah Man Arrested After Violating Probation Terms for Possessing Pepper Spray

The following is a press released issued by the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On 03-08-2021 at 10:22 P.M. a Deputy from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration in the 1100 block of Airport Park Boulevard in Ukiah, California.

The driver of the vehicle, Luis Manuel Ayala Ortiz, was contacted and identified by his California identification card and prior law enforcement contacts.

The Deputy requested Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch check Ortiz for warrants and probation status. The Deputy was advised Ortiz was on Mendocino County Formal Probation with terms to included search/seizure and obey all laws.

Ortiz was searched and the Deputy located a S-1BRE canister of Pepper Spray [22810 PC]. Ortiz is prohibited to possess pepper spray and was determined by the Deputy to be in violation of his probation terms [1203.2 PC].  

Ortiz was arrested without incident and subsequently booked into the Mendocino County Jail where he was to be held in lieu of $15,000.00 bail.

  1. Considering the crime rate all over Mendocino county, how is someone supposed to defend themselves on or off probation?
    You can’t have a gun, no pepper spray, no knife, not even a stick.
    But am officer of the law enforcement in Mendocino sheriff office can steal your weed, guns, and money and get promoted. They can conduct illigal searches against ones consent. Bully thier way into your home. Conduct lewd sex acts upon women. When a complaint is made on them they get promoted.
    Mendocino county is bullshit fake ass cops.
    I stay this because I myself am a victim to a few of these officers.
    Thanks for posting this rediculas arrest. Maybe in your future reports try getting more facts on the situation from the defendant that way the truth is told, not just the laws point of view.
    I’m sick of seeing everyone falling victim to the badge wearing criminals in this county.
    Let the public see the truth!
