On March 17, 2021, the inmates at the Mendocino County Jail were given the opportunity to receive COVID-19 vaccinations.  NaphCare, the jail’s contract medical provider, began giving vaccinations to those inmates wishing to receive it.  The vaccinations, which were the Johnson and Johnson single dose vaccinations, were provided by Mendocino County Public Health.

Extra nursing staff was brought in by NaphCare to give the injections. Correctional staff and jail nursing staff monitored the inmates and an ambulance crew from Medstar stood by in case there was an allergic reaction.
