The following is a press release sent to us by Fort Bragg High School Coach Tara Larson
The Fort Bragg High School Track Team finished their season strong on May 29th at the Redwood Empire Showcase in Healdsburg. At this meet, Russel Gordon, Fort Bragg’s senior hurdler was highlighted on the Redwood Empire Running website:
“What an amazing and grueling day for Fort Bragg’s Russel Gordon. Check out his workhorse day.
- 5:54 PM 110m Hurdles huge 0.58 win in 14.87 for a Prep best.
- 6:39 PM 100m 5th 11.29.
- 7:17 PM 300m Hurdles bigger 2.45-second win in 38.71. This performance would have gotten him to state for sure.
- 7:34 PM 200m 6th 23.24.
- And then on the seventh day he rested.“
Gordon continued his season alongside teammates Alan Moran and Emily Nadeau at the Clash of the Titans on June 5th. Jim Crowhurst states, “You wouldn’t think a 300 hurdle race with only three runners and one of them finishing in 57.71 would be much of a race. The other two were Fort Bragg’s Russel Gordon, coming off a 38.71 victory at the Showcase meet and St Mary’s Jadyn Marshall who was the winner at the National Arcadia meet in 36.77. Gordon didn’t let that scare him off as he finished close behind Marshall’s 38.10 with a new PR of 38.39. That moves Gordon to 4th All-Time performer in the Empire and is the 7th best performance ever. Gordon plans to run in both the June 16th Nor-Cal Track and Field Championships and the June 25th CALIFORNIA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS INVITATIONAL.
Gordon is sitting at number 7 in the state and number 85 in the nation for the 300 hurdles.
