[Update: Fire Out, One Lane Closed] Vegetation Fire Burning in Ukiah Valley Near Intersection of Highway 101 and Lake Mendocino Drive

Scanner traffic indicates firefighters are responding to a grass fire in the Ukiah Valley burning along the northbound lane of Highway 101 near the intersection with Lake Mendocino Drive.

The incident commander reported the fire is currently one-quarter acre in size and burning in the grass at a slow rate of spread. The fire is reportedly located near the Harley-Davidson dealership.

UPDATE 2:08 p.m.: Scanner traffic indicates forward progress has stopped. Also, a car accident occurred nearby the fire on the Highway 101 offramp to Lake Mendocino Drive.

UPDATE 2:18 p.m.: The fire is officially out, as reported by the incident commander. Traffic has been reduced to a single lane in the area as first responders mop up the grass fire and respond to the nearby traffic collision. The accident nearby the fire has been declared a non-injury accident.

UPDATE 2:25 p.m: A reader sent the video below to us and clearly shows first responders at the scene of the fire and the traffic accident with traffic backing up as a result of the incident.
