Reports of Vegetation Fire Near Ridgewood Grade are Controlled Burns by CAL FIRE

Scanner traffic at approximately 11:40 p.m. indicated multiple reports of a vegetation fire near Buckhorn Road along the Ridgewood Grade between Ukiah and Willits. Responding firefighters determined that the reported fire was in fact the controlled burn being conducted on the Howard Forest compound along Highway 101.

As per a press release from CAL FIRE, the controlled burn will burn approximately 5 acres of state-owned property near the Howard Forest headquarters.
