MendoFever is well aware Siskiyou County is far outside our normal reporting range. That being said, this story is perfectly Emerald Triangle.

The following is a press release issued by the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office:

On 06/14/2021, at about 10:19am, Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Deputies were dispatched to the area of the Mayten Store off of County Road A-12 for a report of a white, shirtless man in a Subaru with a rifle threatening to kill people. Multiple SCSO Deputies arrived and began checking the area for the man.

Because Big Springs Elementary was in session at the time, SCSO Deputies requested the school go on lockdown due to the possibility of an armed man in the area. SCSO Deputies staged near Big Springs Elementary to provide security for the school.

An SCSO Deputy contacted the reporting party who said the shirtless man pointed a rifle at him, made statements he wanted to kill people, and also punched the reporting party’s vehicle. The reporting party did not want to provide any additional information.

After the conversation, a man matching the same physical description drove past the investigating deputy in a Mercedes. The man made eye contact with the deputy and accelerated eastbound on County Road A-12 at a high-rate of speed. The deputy followed the evading Mercedes and attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle. The Mercedes refused to pull over, and the deputy initiated a pursuit. The pursuit ended with the Mercedes driving through a barbed wire fence and crashing inside an illegal cannabis cultivation site off of Placone Drive in the Mt. Shasta Vista Subdivision area. The driver fled from the scene as the vehicle caught fire and flames spread to nearby vegetation. The deputies requested fire personnel respond to the scene, and deputies used fire extinguishers to suppress the spreading fire.

The parcel where the vehicle crashed had an active illegal marijuana grow. A search warrant was written and executed at the location, and 713 marijuana plants were eradicated from the location.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Lake Shastina Police Department, California Highway Patrol, CAL FIRE Prevention Officers, and numerous firefighters and emergency responders for their assistance. This is an ongoing investigation, and we are asking for your assistance in identifying and locating the driver of the Mercedes. Please contact the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office if you have information: 530-841-2900.

  1. “this story is perfectly Emerald Triangle.” LOL.

In the future most vehicle leaving the roadway incidents will also involve a cannabis farm.
