Winters Storm Downs Powerlines Near Lake Mendocino Closing Campgrounds Indefinitely

The following is a post from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Lake Mendocino Facebook page:

Why are the campgrounds closed? A winter storm caused extensive damage to power lines feeding our wastewater treatment facility on the north end of the Lake and a mess of trees and limbs were down all over the campgrounds.

Without power to treat wastewater our restrooms, showers, dump stations and sewer hookups cannot be utilize.

Work is ongoing to restore power and clean up the campgrounds. Our goal is to open camping this summer, but at this time there is no estimated date to reopen. Thank you for your patience.
