First Responders Dispatched to Two-Vehicle Traffic Collision Between Willits and Laytonville

Categories:

At 7:20 p.m., California Highway Patrol and Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office are responding to a two-vehicle traffic collision north of Willits with one vehicle on the roadside and the other thirty feet off the roadway in bushes.

The initial report indicated there was a life-safety hazard associated with downed power lines. The Incident Commander determined the downed lines were not power lines.

The California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicates the pole was actually an AT&T pole.

One vehicle, described simply as a “red vehicle” came to rest in the roadway, and reportedly did not deploy its airbags, and had a dog inside.

Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office requested dispatch contact Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits to inquire whether anyone had been admitted suffering injuries from a traffic collision. Though not explicitly stated by the Incident Commander, this suggests one of the drivers or occupants of the vehicles is no longer at the scene.

UPDATE 8:24 p.m.: A review of the CalTrans Quickmap indicates traffic is slowed south of the incident.
