Water Rescue Initiated Regarding Possible Missing Kayaker After Boat and Gear Found Floating in Little River

At 2:44 p.m. a water rescue was initiated after a kayak had been found unpiloted near Van Damme Beach along the Mendocino County Coast floating in the waters of Little River. 

The kayak is reportedly blue and rigged out with a paddle, jacket, and water bottle, with no kayaker to be found. Fort Bragg Fire, Mendocino Fire, the Coast Guard, State Parks, and an air ambulance are on order. First responders are staging near the cemetery.

UPDATE 5:10 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported rescuers searched the area for an hour and did not locate anything. As a result, the incident was terminated.

  1. I noticed that you often don’t post any follow up to your articles especially on the day of. That’s unfortunate because I don’t have a scanner and I’m not really sure where to find additional information and I’ve noticed this is pretty common
