[UPDATE: Two Outbuildings Destroyed] Fire in Ukiah Destroys Outbuilding and Forces Evacuations of Nearby Area

At 2:57 p.m., reports of a vegetation near East Gobbi Street and the Ukiah Rail Trail required response from Ukiah Valley Fire Authority. Scanner traffic indicates the fire burned near the Rail Trail and one outbuilding was destroyed. Fire fighters were forced to evacuate a nearby area.

Nearby the site of the fire is a reportedly a gas leak at 747 Waugh Lane that is complicating firefighting efforts.

The Incident Commander reported that forward progress of the fire has stopped and fire resources would be in the area for approximately 1-2 hours for mop-up.

Scanner traffic indicates that Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office was requested to the scene to assist.

UPDATE 3:39 p.m.: Ukiah Valley Fire Authority’s Battalion Chief Eric Singleton told us that forward progress on the Tracks Incident has been stopped. Battalion Chief Singleton said the fire actually destroyed two outbuildings. He described the incident as a 100×40 foot spot fire that burned along the railroad tracks. The fire required evacuation of a nearby apartment complex on Village Circle.
