[UPDATE: 3:28 p.m.]Coroner Responding to Laytonville After Deceased Male Found in Vehicle Along Roadside

Categories:

At approximately 2:36 p.m. scanner traffic indicated Laytonville Fire Department had requested Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office respond to the area of Highway 101 and Fisherman Drive after a man was found deceased in a vehicle along the roadside.

We have reached out to Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Captain Greg Van Patten for more information and will updated when it becomes available.

UPDATE 3:28 p.m.: Contrary to previous reporting, Laytonville Fire Department Chief Sue Carberry told us that the deceased man was not actually located deceased on the roadside, but driven to the location near Highway 101 to meet the ambulance.

Also, contrary to previous reporting, the actual location of the deceased individual is at the intersection of Road 307 and Highway 101, about a quarter mile north of the previously described location. We have updated the map below accordingly.

Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can
