As per scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page, at approximately 3:15 p.m. a white Honda Civic collided with an embankment east of Willits near the intersection of Eastside Road and East Hill Road. Two men fled from the vehicles and one hour later one of the passengers walked into Willits’s Howard Hospital seeking treatment for injuries.
The Honda reportedly suffered major front-end damage and a tow truck was required to extricate the vehicle from the embankment. The driver and passenger were reportedly Hispanic mean and the reporting party described them carrying something away from the incident.
A witness to the incident told us the two men “looked really hurt” and an item being carried by the men “looked heavy.” The witness described them as “struggling to run up that hill” depicted in the photographs they provided.
We will follow up with California Highway Patrol on Monday regarding the fate of the driver. They are closed on the weekends and answer public information requests Monday-Friday.
