[UPDATE: Major Injury] Van and Truck Collide Head-on Between Willits and Laytonville Causing Injury and Traffic Delays

Scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicate that around 2:07 p.m. a van collided head-on with a white truck pulling a trailer. The accident reportedly caused injury and blocked the northbound lane of Highway 101 as well as scattering debris in the southbound.

The accident occurred near the Irvine Rest Area between Willits and Laytonville.

There are reportedly four patients associated with the incident and all of them are being transported via ground ambulance to Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits.

An air ambulance was initially requested but was canceled by the Incident Commander

The CalTrans Quickmap indicates traffic has been slowed significantly in the area.

UPDATE 3:15 p.m.: As per the CHP Traffic Incident Information page, two-way one-lane traffic has been established for both the north and southbound lanes and first responders clean up the scene.

UPDATE 6:28 p.m.: The CHP report this is a Major Injury accident.
