38-Year-Old Willits Man Succumbs to Injuries After Truck Colliding with a Large Box Truck on Highway 20

The following is a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol:

On 9-27-2021, at approximately 1611 hours, Ukiah CHP responded to a call of a head on traffic collision on SR-20 just east of Marina Dr. During the course of investigation, it was determined Party-1 was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck, while towing another 2001 Dodge Ram pickup on a flat bed trailer. Party – 1 was traveling eastbound on SR-20, when for an undetermined reason he lost control of his vehicle and allowed it to cross over the double yellow lines into the westbound lane of SR-20. Vehicle-1 collided head on with a large box truck. Party-1 was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of collision and sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the box truck was transported to Howard Memorial Hospital for precautionary measures. At this time, alcohol and / or drugs are considered a possible factor as a cause for this collision. 

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notifications to next of kin.
