Officers Deem Incident ‘Suspicious Circumstance’ After Shots Reportedly Fired in Ukiah Neighborhood

Last night at approximately 6:15 p.m. Ukiah Police Department responded to reports of shots fired on Marlene Street. According to UPD Sergeant Chris Long, officers on scene deemed the circumstances a “suspicious circumstance” after being unable to confirm an actual gun was fired.

Sergeant Long said the reporting party described a truck driving by their home when a passenger window shattered and heard what sounded like gunfire.

Officers rushed to the scene and investigated “but did not find any evidence of gunfire or bullet holes in any houses” nor did they locate the vehicle associated with the incident.

This reporter on the scene witnessed tempered glass shattered in the roadway.

As to what actually occurred, Sergeant Long said, “it’s a bit odd that someone would fire a gun from inside a vehicle without rolling down the window first.”
