[UPDATE 3:55 p.m.] Crash off Mendocino Pass Road, One Patient 150 Feet Over the Edge

About 1:40 p.m., an emergency call center in Mendocino County received notice from an occupant that a vehicle had gone off the Mendocino Pass Road. The ping from the call was used to figure out that the accident occurred just east of Short Creek Road northeast of Covelo.

About 2:15 p.m., emergency personnel arrived on scene. One patient was out of the vehicle. However, another person was still in the vehicle down in the canyon. The incident commander requested more emergency personnel.

Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can.

UPDATE 3:55 p.m.: According to the scanner, an air ambulance picked up the one patient and took them to an out of the area hospital. The other patient from the vehicle is being taken by ground ambulance to an in county hospital.
