The National Weather Service in Eureka is predicting “strong and potentially damaging winds” will sweep over Mendocino, Humboldt, and Trinity County starting today increasing their intensity throughout the day.
The strongest gusts will “be found in the usual wind-prone spots, such as the higher coastal ridges and interior mountains, as well as portions of the coast,” a post on the NWS Eureka Facebook page explained. Gusts could reach upwards of 65 miles per hour in wind-prone areas.
These winds will precede rain in the region and are slated to diminish by Tuesday morning.

To prepare for these high winds, Emerald County residents are recommended to secure all loose outdoor objects. The NWS warns of the potential of falling tree limbs, urges residents to use caution when driving, and be aware that power outages are possible.
The date at the top shows that the warning was issued Tuesday 11/7. Since today is Monday 11/8, there is obviously an incorrect date.
To err is to be human. Even the national weather service can have an off day.
