
Scanner traffic around 8:27 p.m. indicated a vegetation fire was spotted burning underneath Fort Bragg’s Hare Creek Bridge. A pedestrian is reported to have been seen lighting the fire.
Initial reports indicate the fire is burning an approximately 20 feet area of vegetation.
California Highway Patrol, Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, and State Parks Officers are reportedly at the scene. Fort Bragg Fire Department was dispatched at 8:29 p.m. and are reporting to the scene.
UPDATE 8:36 p.m.: The dispatcher reported that CHP had reported a 451 in the area of the fire, which is the police code for arson.
UPDATE 8:39 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported the fire is “small,” is located at the very bottom of the bridge, involves a moderate amount of vegetation, and is growing at a moderate rate of spread.
