[UPDATE: Boat Brought Ashore] Water Rescue Underway in Albion Bay for Kayaker Clinging to Another Boat

Scanner traffic as of 9:24 a.m. indicates that the United States Coast Guard has requested fire personnel respond to Albion Bay for a kayaker that is reportedly clinging to the side of another boat.

A jetski has been requested to the scene to facilitate the rescue. Mendocino Volunteer Fire Department has agreed to answer the call.

UPDATE 9:33 p.m.: Dispatch relayed an update from the United States Coast Guard describing the boat involved in the incident as a 10′ foot camouflage kayak with one person inside and the other in the water. The occupants officially called mayday on the radio boat and Coast Guard has dispatched a helicopter to the scene.

The kayak is reportedly just south of Albion Bay.

UPDATE 9:40 p.m.: The kayak has been brought ashore by another boat. An ambulance is still continuing to the scene.

UPDATE 10:03 p.m.: Dispatch reported the boat is still in the water.
