[UPDATE: Suspects Apprehended] Manhunt Underway in Albion After Suspect Flees Following Early Morning Shooting That Resulted in Life-Threatening Injuries

Categories:

Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Captain Greg Van Patten has told MendoFever that an early morning shooting near the 28000 block of Albion Ridge Road resulted in life-threatening injuries and the suspect fleeing the scene.

Captain Van Patten confirmed that the shooting occurred around 2:00 a.m. and the search for the suspect is ongoing. He told us Sheriff’s Detectives and Coast Patrol deputies are currently conducting investigations at this time and characterized the suspect as armed and dangerous.

The request of a Nixle Alert issued by MCSO at 2:47 a.m. asking residents to remain indoors still stands as of 7:25 a.m., Captain Van Patten made clear.

For the record, the following is the language of the Nixle Alert:

POLICE ACTIVITY IN THE AREA OF 28000 BLOCK OF ALBION RIDGE RD, ALBION. REQUESTING CITZENS REMAIN INDOORS. FURTHER INFORMATION TO FOLLOW.

UPDATE 11:42 p.m.: A Nixle Alert issued by MCSO indicates that two suspects associated with the shooting have been apprehended and the Shelter-In-Place order for the Albion Ridge Road area has been lifted.

Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can.

  1. Just drove past there 15 min ago and they are still all on alert with at last 7 cars on scene and everyone packing weapons including AR-15’s I suspect the suspect is contained to an area and they are waiting for him to give up or they are waiting for dogs to flush him out. I asked an officer if it was safe to be there driving past and he said it was not a problem.

  2. Thank you for this update. I live at 6.25 Albion Ridge Road. Pretty scary. Please, anyone with ACCURATE information please keep us posted. Thank you.

  3. Map is incorrect, but incident is NOT by “J” road, or at 2800. Literally miles away from both locations. Suspect cannot be assumed to be contained any more than the previous armed fugitive who evaded MCSO for literally months by repeatedly fleeing into the Big Salmon watershed where old logging roads sprawl out for miles.

As previously noted in comments on other incidents, it sucks to put a flag on someone’s house who is merely in the very general vicinity and has the misfortune of an even 00 number on their address. Especially when inaccurately connecting their address with serious criminal activity.

    • Thank you for providing that information. It is not possible to have a geographic comprehensive knowledge of every community in Mendocino county, as you can imagine so constructive feedback and specificity always help me provide that information. Please, copy and paste a Google map URL as to the location of the incident and I will gladly update.

      • Not your fault. You’re just going on the information you’re given. Google maps gets confused out there, too. The important thing is that people were informed and alert. Thanks for the reporting.

      • Law enforcement public information often gives a general location to protect privacy- such as “28000 block”. So posting a pointer on that 000 location will almost always be wrong, and repeatedly point to specific locations that have this numerical misfortune. It is not a lack of information, you are misinterpreting the information you have been given. And it is not fair to the person who randomly lives at these locations.

It has little to do with “geographic knowledge”. Solution? Look on the map and identify the range between 27999 and 29000 and draw a circle- or something similar. How would you like living at a 000 address and routinely having unrelated incidents and crimes linked directly and publicly to your home? I know I wouldn’t like it.

Thank you for taking the time to answer and consider my point.
