Categories:

The following is a press release issued by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Nova Deperno, 26 years old, was wanted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office for assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, and brandishing a firearm. Deperno was considered armed and dangerous.

On January 13, 2022, at approximately 5:00 pm, the Sonoma County Sherriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team was utilized to assist Lake County Sheriff’s Office with taking Deperno into custody. Deperno was at a residence in the 14000 block of Occidental Road.

Deperno fled from the residence, and after a 2-hour search, he was found by the Sheriff’s Office helicopter, Henry-1 hiding under a tree canopy.

Deperno was booked into the Sonoma County Jail. He’s still in custody on $635,000 bail.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the community members that assisted in finding Deperno.

I like to think of myself as a journalist for the everyman. Journalism has become a craft practiced largely by the urban elite. It’s time to take it back. I have been an Emerald Triangle resident since 2006 and this is year ten in Mendocino County. Please, email me at matthewplafever@gmail.com if you know a story that needs to be told.
