[UPDATE: 4:12 p.m.]Late Night Traffic Fatality in Lake County After Sedan Collides with Parked Pickup Truck

In the early morning hours along the Lake County side of State Route 20 tragedy struck when a traffic collision proved fatal.

A review of the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page and the police scanner indicated at approximately 11:55 p.m. first responders were requested to the intersection of SR 20 and 1st Avenue in Lucerne regarding reports of a pickup truck sedan colliding with a parked vehicle pickup truck in the westbound lane..

Initial reports indicated one person had suffered minor injuries and another person suffered major injuries requiring an air ambulance.

By 12:17 a.m., first responders at the scene canceled the air ambulance and informed the dispatch the individual with major injuries had died as a result.

PG&E was requested to the scene because a nearby power pole and guidewire were damaged as a result of the collision.

Our hearts go out to those lost and their families.

UPDATE 4:08 p.m.: We have received images of the collision that contradict the information documented in the CHP log from early this morning. Based on that log, we initially reported a pickup truck collided with a parked vehicle. In fact, a sedan collided with a parked pickup truck. We have updated the body of the article above as well as the article title to reflect these new facts.
