In the early morning hours along the Lake County side of State Route 20 tragedy struck when a traffic collision proved fatal.
A review of the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page and the police scanner indicated at approximately 11:55 p.m. first responders were requested to the intersection of SR 20 and 1st Avenue in Lucerne regarding reports of a
pickup truck sedan colliding with a parked vehicle pickup truck in the westbound lane..
Initial reports indicated one person had suffered minor injuries and another person suffered major injuries requiring an air ambulance.
By 12:17 a.m., first responders at the scene canceled the air ambulance and informed the dispatch the individual with major injuries had died as a result.
PG&E was requested to the scene because a nearby power pole and guidewire were damaged as a result of the collision.

UPDATE 4:08 p.m.: We have received images of the collision that contradict the information documented in the CHP log from early this morning. Based on that log, we initially reported a pickup truck collided with a parked vehicle. In fact, a sedan collided with a parked pickup truck.
