The following is a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Patricia Martha Murphy [Mugshot from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office]

On January 16, 2022, at 2352 hours, Murphy was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta, westbound on SR-20 east of Lake Street. As Murphy was driving she allowed her vehicle to travel to the right from the main traveled portion of the roadway. As a result, the Volkswagen collided into the rear of a Ram 5500 utility type truck parked alongside the roadway. Murphy’s front right passenger suffered major injuries from the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene by fire department personnel. Murphy was arrested for driving under the influence alcohol at the time of the collision, and causing the death of her passenger.

  1. Well Cutie Murphy, forgive yourself. Hope your friend didn’t feel nothing, & hope they’d forgive you. Live for your friend & try to do good. Good Luck. If they don’t forgive you, God won’t forgive them.

  2. Your Knephew was probably intoxicated too, both their dumb choices. Everybody makes dumb decisions. Sorry about your Knephew. Alcohol can creep up on you as well as every other intoxicant

    • *nephew 👌
Hurtful comments aren’t necessary. It’s a tragedy that a family lost a loved one and it’s a tragedy that this young woman’s family will have to deal with the consequences of her actions. There is absolutely no reason to be disrespectful to a family member of the young man that lost his life. Learn to show a little class, your lake county is showing.

      • B Daniels… I do live what I preach. I dont live in lake county 🤷‍♀️

Good on you though for trying to stick up for someone that was rude to a family member of one of the victims by attempting to make me look like a hypocrite for calling someone out on their bad behavior. Unfortunately for you, your opinion means absolutely nothing to me. You can stop trying to be a martyr now and move along.

    • Don’t drive drunk I hope she sits in jail for a while why was she driving no reason to drive drunk no excuse to many people die because of people like her

    • Your comments do not help ease anyone’s pain. This is a parent’s worst nightmare and don’t assume the passenger was drunk just because the driver was! I too was close to Justin it was one of my daughter’s best friends he was the kindest person in the world but your comments are not helping yes its a tragedy she got behind the wheel she will have to always live with that God forgives everyone!

  3. RIP Ben. Im guessing his name, by his Auntie’s comment. God bless and cover his family. And, may the driver never forget so she can change her future. Such a tragedy. Praying for the family.

    • @LocalFB 🙏 Amen. I’m in agreement praying with you…for everyone involved.

Even for the 🚔LEO& 🚑EMT that see this type of tragedy on the daily. And their families who support their grief.

Tragedy is a domino effect. The thing is this could’ve been avoided.

🙏 A simple prayer today can change the trajectory of my day and yours. Be safe out there people.

I know a lot of people have deep roots in NorCal. We are deeply affected by what goes on here and the decline.

      🌷 Pray. Fast. Love

    • I’m not trying to be mean to the Victim or family. They were both hanging out with each other so I imagine the passenger knew the Driver was somewhat intoxicated, the passenger could have been too. It was a accident. I’m not talking bad on anyone. Things happen. Hopefully the passenger didn’t feel anything. Sad story. They both took the risk & it backfired. You could fall asleep at the wheel without being impaired. Driving is a tough job. Hope the families forgive each other & move on eventually. You can make mistakes also, were human.

  4. The name of the young man was Justin that was killed in her accident, Benjamin was a completely separate accident in a different portion of lake county. I was just confused.

  5. God bless the family of the loss male, the Female will have to deal with that pain for the rest of her life,I knew some one that kill (drunk driving) a passenger and is being 20yrs and can’t forgive themselves. Hopefully she learns that leason.

    • Tell them to get over it Carmen stuff happens. Never forget them though, they’d want you to be happy. They got them to a better place. Especially if Heaven is 9 times better than here

  6. This is truly so sad, so sorry for the family that lost such a young person. Patricia is a repeat offender, has a long history of being in different troubles with the law. I feel sorry for all the people she has hurt in her wake of self destructive behaviors- including her 5 year old daughter. I think it’s a horrible thing to live with, but it was preventable- calling it an accident when you make a decision to do something is generous. I hope she can wake up and get her life together so this never happens to another person again. very sad indeed.

  7. WOW!!!
Just learning of this makes me sad for all the troubles Patricia will not be able to escape this time.
I’m just thankful it didn’t happen while my grand-niece, her daughter, was in the car.
I pray that this be a wake up call to many, including myself for unnecessary risks taken
I also pray for the young man’s family and what they are going through

    God bless

  8. Future Humans….When your drunk… give the keys up to a sober human…. If your a friend or family there with them…take their keys and tell them we are walking tonight and if you don’t want to walk…call a taxi or friend to come get us…..
