Willits Woman Edie Ceccarelli Will Soon Celebrate Her 114th Birthday—Come Celebrate in a Drive-Thru Parade

The following is a Facebook post from the Blue Zones Project – Mendocino County:

Mendocino County friends-

Come celebrate Edie’s birthday with us on February 5th there will be a drive-by parade in her honor at 414 Grove St. In Willits from 1:30 -3:30 pm. See flyer for more details.

Our goal at Blue Zones Project Mendocino County is for every community member to have the opportunity to live a long, healthy, happy life like Edie’s. Connecting with others has always been important to Edie, her family, friends, and her love for dancing.

When her long-time dance partner passed, she published a letter to the editor on The Willits News, looking for a dance partner. She was 104 when she wrote the letter – Come Dance with Me.

In the past Edie has been known to say that she attributes her longevity to her love of red wine, “two fingers full” with her dinner, long walks in downtown Willits and her “good Italian genes.”

Let’s make this birthday memorable for Edie!

I like to think of myself as a journalist for the everyman. Journalism has become a craft practiced by the urban elite. It’s time to take it back. I have been an Emerald Triangle resident since 2006 and this is year ten in Mendocino County. Please, email me at if you know a story that needs told.
