[UPDATES] Two Story Home Burning South of Covelo

Scanner traffic beginning at approximately 8:45 p.m. indicated multiple reporting parties described a residential structure fire burning near the 74000 block of Highway 162 south of Covelo.

The Incident Commander reported the Highway Fire consists of a single-family, two-story home and is currently 50% involved.

UPDATE 8:59 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported the house is now full involved.

UPDATE 9:01 p.m.: The Incident Commander urgently requested Tribal Police respond to the scene.

UPDATE 9:07 p.m.: Attempts to contact Tribal Police went unanswered and the Incident Commander said law enforcement was not neccessary because the fire seemed to be accidental in nature.

UPDATE 9:19 p.m.: This picture of the fire was sent to us by a reader. Though the picture does not provide many details of the incident, the fully-involved home is clearly emitting smoke and flames into the night sky.

Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can.
