Mendocino and Lake County residents— snow is coming.
After over a month of unseasonably warm temperatures and recording-breaking highs for winter months, a winter storm is putting a chill in the air and could bring snowfall to Mendocino County’s higher elevations as well as Lake County.
The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a hazardous weather outlook predicting Northern Mendocino County and Lake County could see snow tonight, into tomorrow, and lower temperatures predicted throughout the week.
Tonight snow levels are predicted to “fall below 2000 feet before shower activity tapers off.” This could result in “a dusting of snow along some highway passes along Highway 101 in Mendocino County.”
Throughout the week, snow levels are predicted to range from 1500 to 2000 feet on Tuesday which could result in “localized dustings fo snow and briefly slick travel.”
The following roadways are often impacted as a result of winter storms in the area:
- Highway 101 at the Ridgewood Summit and the Laytonville Aree
- State Route 175 (Hopland to Lake County)
- State Route 162 (Highway 101-Covelo)
