A logging truck crashed on Hwy 101 north of Leggett and south of the Peg House at Jitney Creek about 11:20 a.m. Both north and south lanes are completely blocked, according to the CHP. Officer Rick Fowler told us via phone that travelers would “be advised to use an alternative route.”

The semi reportedly hit both the bridge and a power pole although no power outages have been reported in the area. Caltrans QuickMap shows traffic backing up in both directions.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

UPDATE 12:23 p.m.: The CHP Garberville Facebook page is now reporting, “US 101 between the Peg House and SR 1 in Mendocino County is limited to one way controlled traffic due to a traffic collision.”
