[UPDATE 8:10 p.m.: Under Control]Firefighters Responding to Escaped Controlled Burn in Caspar

At approximately 7:30 p.m.. scanner traffic indicated Mendocino Coast firefighters were dispatched to the 44000 block of Johnson Park Road in Caspar responding to reports of a vegetation fire.

At 7:46 p.m., the Incident Commander told dispatch the fire was an escaped controlled burn, 50’x50 in size, burning at a slow rate of spread.

UPDATE 8:06 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported the controlled burn has been contained.

For the benefit of the Mendocino County public, below is a basic guide to burn piles published by Cal Fire worthy of perusing before facilitating your own backyard burn.
