The California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page and scanner traffic indicate State Route 20, the major thoroughfare between Mendocino County and Lake County, is heavily congested this morning after a big rig overturned in the roadway along with an SUV that overturned several times. Thankfully, the accident only resulted in two minor injuries.

The big rig overturned in the roadway

The traffic accident occurred around 7:09 this morning. The big rig blocked lanes of SR20 after it overturned. After overturning several times, the SUV plowed into a tree. By 7:14 a.m., the SUV was reportedly on fire with all the subjects of both vehicles outside of them.

The CalTrans Quickmap shows SR 20 is impacted both west and eastbound, more significantly eastbound between Scotts Valley Road and the State Route 29 roundabout.

One lane of SR 20 is open at this point and traffic controls are in place.
