The following is a press release issued by the Fort Bragg Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On April 14th, 2022 at approximately 10:39 p.m., Officers of the Fort Bragg Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of E. Redwood Avenue for a report of a traffic collision that just occurred involving a vehicle striking a fire hydrant. Officers quickly arrived on scene and located the vehicle in question at the specified location.
Officers determined the driver, Richelle Notmeyer, was traveling westbound in the 300 block of E. Redwood Ave. when she struck two parked vehicles, causing one of the vehicles to strike a fire hydrant and an occupied building. Notmeyer’s vehicle then traveled into the 200 block of E. Redwood Ave. where it came to rest. Throughout the investigation it was also determined there was a male passenger in the vehicle with Notmeyer, who sustained minor facial injuries as a result of this collision.
While speaking to Notmeyer, Officers noted Notmeyer displayed objective signs of alcohol intoxication. Notmeyer also admitted to consuming a large amount of alcohol prior to driving. While at the scene, Notmeyer provided a breathalyzer sample and it showed her blood alcohol content was .355%. Notmeyer then provided two more additional breath samples which showed her blood alcohol content was .37% (four times the legal limit).
Notmeyer was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing bodily injury. Notmeyer was then medically cleared for incarceration and transported to The Mendocino County Jail for the following violations: 23153(A) CVC (driving under the influence and causing bodily injury), and 23153(B) CVC (driving under the influence and causing bodily injury while over .08% BAC).
